My Favorite Things About Fall

"Come, little leaves"
said the Wind one day,
"Come to the meadows with me and play.
Put on your dresses of red and gold; for the summer is past, and the days grow cold."
-George Cooper

I like all seasons but fall is the most colorful!

I love how the trees turn red, brown, yellow, orange, and about any other color imaginable. God is an amazing artist who entertains us with many beautiful pieces!

I love the cool breeze that refreshes you from the heat of summer.

Getting to wear warm cozy boots, sweaters, and scarves also make me smile.

I have never been to a pumpkin patch but it would be really neat to go to one. I wonder how God comes up with interesting fruits and vegetables.

I love going apple picking and smelling the sweet fresh apples in the orchard.

I love the crunch of leaves under my feet and watching small children jumping in piles of leaves.

Thanksgiving is a highlight of this season. Sharing thanks and blessings around the dinner table filled with delicious foods provided by God is really memorable. I like to eat apple pie, pecan pie, turkey, corn, and other delectable foods on the table.

I like how the whole house smells good when an apple scented candle is lighted.

Thank you Lord for making such an amazing season!

Amazing Autumn

Autumn is so beautiful!
God's powers are so marvelous. I can't believe He can change every green leaf into a different color any time He wanted to. You can really tell when fall is coming. The trees are one of the obvious clues, but the air starts getting cooler too. The autumn breeze makes you want to pull out a warm cozy blanket and drink some hot chocolate. As a Christian, we need to have obvious clues present in our lives. We need to grow in becoming like Christ in our actions, words, and thoughts. This is one of the 2 things we are concentrating on in my Sunday school class this year. I thank the Lord for providing me an awesome teacher who challenges me in growing in Christ-likeness.
One thing I like about fall is Thanksgiving. We can fellowship with our family and friends and thank God for all the things He has done in our lives. (The meals are pretty yummy too:D) Thanksgiving isn't the only time of the year we need to be thanking God though. We need to be praising Him every single day of the year.

The Pride of Your Power

If you've read Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes, you probably recognize the blog title as one of the chapters. In chapter 2, it talks about how Johnny's pride catches up with him when he burns his hand when the cracked crucible that Dove gave him collapsed and his hand landed on the boiling silver. With his crippled hand, Johnny learned how to be humble.

This past week, I took a math test at school and I was positive I got -1 or less because it was pretty easy. When I saw my test after school though, I saw that I missed 6! I was really shocked. I had so many careless mistakes. When I got home, I realized how prideful I was and asked God's forgiveness and grace. I asked Him to maybe do something to change my grade since it was only a substitute teacher who graded it. The next morning, the real teacher told us to grade the tests again. I already knew that I missed a lot and I was accepting it as a consequence for my pride and carelessness. Some of the questions were worth less and more than I thought. When I got my test back from my grader, I was so surprised to see that I got a 98%! The bonus question with 5 points boosted my grade of 93% up. It was all the work of God! My prayers and cries were answered! He gave me grace. I couldn't stop praising the Lord:)

Everybody can be proud at times. Sometimes, we don't even know it. But every time, we're proud and sinning, God will send a consequence in our path(kind of like my math test experience but sometimes more severe like a health issue) to teach us to be humble and understand that we are nothing without His help. He is merciful and full of grace. He will warn us first but if we don't obey and change, He will give us the chastisement we deserve.

Leviticus 26:19 "And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:"

Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 29:23 "A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."
