A Growing Rosebush

II Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in
the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Have you ever planted a seed and watched it grow through the years? Or maybe it even failed to sprout one tiny leaf.
Before my friend, K.C., was born, her dad planted a rosebush in the garden. After many years, it's still full bloom today! How did it produce beautiful roses? K.C. and her family probably had to water it a few times and protect it from harmful pests.

How about our spiritual lives? Are they still full bloom today? Or is the seed just sitting there, waiting to be watered?
When we get saved, we need to experience a change in our hearts and start thirsting for the spiritual water of the Word of God. We need to start having the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance in our lives (Galatians 5:22). We also need to get away from harmful pests of sin and temptation.

God is the caring gardener who can help us grow but we need to be willing to follow and have tender hearts.
